Representative Darisha Parker is a connector, team builder, community activist, and state representative for the 198th legislative district, Germantown Fishtown.

Darisha sits on the aging and older Americans, agriculture and rural affairs, commerce, consumer affairs, and rules committees. Darisha is the chair of the Women & Girls of Color of Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus.

Representative Parker has been a strong proponent of environmental justice, which disproportionately affects her community with the some of highest rates of asthma in Nicetown. She advocates against poverty fighting for affordable housing initiatives, and access to agricultural opportunities in hemp crops and urban farming.  Representative Parkers has been busy as prime sponsor for a variety of bills and resolutions that affect the daily lives of the people of 198 districts. Public bills ranging from loan forgiveness and incentives for small businesses, consumer protection, tenant rights. She has partnered with labor highlighting and promoting Internships opportunities in the Trades. She has fought to rebuild local businesses by delivering business-critical incentives for small businesses to recover and create good self-sustaining, living-wage jobs.

Fighting for the 198

Rep. Parker will continue to fight for resources to improve Philadelphia’s schools and provide the best education possible for our children and teachers. Rep. Parker will fight to make changes to the funding formula in order to make sure that Philadelphians get what they deserve – a quality, affordable education.

Representative Parker has been an advocate against gun violence. She is a prime sponsor of 7 bills and resolutions in her community to address the issue of gun violence. One such bill explores connections between social media and gun violence.

Darisha K. Parker is a dedicated community leader with over 25 years of experience in communications and public service. She has organized grassroots events such as the one that lead to the safe return of an abducted woman from Germantown; executed initiatives to raise funds for victims and families of violent crimes, among other things too.
Darisha is active in the area’s Town Watch and provides safety strategies to residents, as well as partnering with community groups to donate funds. She has also sponsored gun violence awareness, prevented school closings and fed families in need.
